CLEMSON, S.C. — Clemson head football coach Dabo Swinney introduced his new defensive coordinator Tom Allen Wednesday afternoon.
A former Indiana head football coach, Allen spent the 2024 season as Penn State's defensive coordinator.
Swinney has been in the market for a DC after dismissing Wes Goodwin who had been on the job in that capacity for the past three seasons. Swinney was looking for an experienced play-caller and that's what he found in Allen who is a 33-year coaching veteran.
Clemson's newest hire has some built-in connections to the area as he and Tiger offensive line coach Matt Luke worked together at Ole Miss.
Also, Allen has one daughter who lives in Greenville and another who resides in Charlotte and that was as much a lure for Allen as much as working under Swinney, someone who shares similar values.
