SUMTER, S.C. — The South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association unveiled the coaching staff for the 2025 Shrine Bowl and Crestwood head coach Roosevelt Nelson has been tabbed to serve as an assistant coach for the December all-star game.
A 2001 graduate of Crestwood High School, Nelson is a former linebacker at Clemson where he was a three-year letterwinner, graduating in 2005.
He has been in charge of the football program at his alma mater since 2014. He served as an assistant coach for the South team in the 2022 Touchstone Energy Cooperatives Bowl.
In 2023, he was named the state's 3A Coach of the Year by the South Carolina Football Coaches Association after he led the Knights to an 11-2 record and a region title.
Paul Sutherland from Liberty High School is the South Caroina Shrine Bowl head coach.
Nelson will be working with the South Carolina linebackers in the annual December all-star game featuring some of the best players in South Carolina facing off against North Carolina.
